Very expensive & why go with Yellow Pages, when there are better alternatives out there who can offer you more.

We have never had them design an ad for us ( because thats what we do ! ) but we have had Yellow Page adverts. In certain sectors they can be very useful. For us for example, there are not 1 million and 1 other designers in the region so it helps.

One thing is though - make sure you negotiate the price with them. We had our reduced from £540 to £380 by doing that.

We are a graphic design business and we just wondered what yellow pages were charging. We are very competitive in our pricing and just wondered if it was worth us contacting our clients to see if they wanted us to do something for them or if it was wasting out time because yellow pages already offer this service?

We presumed that their charges were high though?

Any ideas anyone?

What would you be willing to pay for the design of a small 1/4 column advert?  You can be honest!

I dont know about their design prices sorry but i have heard them offer them for free sometimes to clinch the deal.

Why dont you call the Yellow Pages and ask ? I am sure they will tell you.

I have tried that and the person I have spoken to was not very helpful!

On a separate note, how did you negotiate the price?  We had such a bad service from them we managed to get 10% knocked off and some other discount seemed to be in the invoice as well(?).  Any sugestions for keeping the price lower for next year?!

I would call them again. Say that you are arranging things for a client for example and you want to know the difference between designing yourself and getting them to do it. I think it changes per region too.

Well we said we wanted to advertise but told them we has a small budget for it. They called and called and each time thr price came down more. So in the end I told them what I wanted to pay and someone called me back 10mins later to agree ! It was really that simple. Dont take their first price because if they can drop that amount in 10mins they they must be making a good profit on it in general !

Also tell them that you need to choose 1 advert to put in either their directory or their competitors and you are looking for the best price.

still no joy.  I found this when I started up a few years ago, thay always want to send someone out!  I might try another day and see if I get someone more helpful!

Yeah i would try again because I have had info from them before similar to that and they have never offered to send anyone out !! But that might be because we are in the sticks !!! lol

So half page or quarter page design - £70 plus VAT.

Seems reasonable for yellow pages, so thats a quater of the page and not the small boxed ad?

Yep thats a quarter of a page OR half a page. Same design price for both.

Its reasonable but then again I havent seen many stunning designs in their directories yet !

Ive just been quoted £55.00 for an advert design!
I dont think id use them to design my adverts though and would opt for a designer to d it instead.
