Hi, ive recently got my website onto the top search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo). The description for the google and bing is fine but on yahoo it is just coming up as my various side pages (HOME, ABOUT US etc.)

Anyone know why it would be doing this or how to change it?
Thanks

Hi
You have to add meta description to all the pages you have.
someting like this:
#meta name="Description" content="Based in Portaferry Smiths Memorials offer traditional headstone memorials, kerbs, surrounds, stone chippings, ceramic flowers, religious statues." /#
replace
1st # with <
2nd # with >
you are welcome
p.s. if you wish you can promote your services in virginads.co.uk (free UK classifieds) - this will give your website additional recognision in the eyes of Google and Yahoo

Each search engine has their own system or algorithm in ranking websites and giving results as well as snippets. Even if you have the META tags for a website, snippets generated by different search engines(Google, Yahoo!, Bing) sometimes can't be the same.

It simply took the META description. If you don't have any META DESCRIPTION then it will take first 250 characters of your text.

Hi.
Actually Yahoo doesn't do that. Nevertheless, Google works exactly like you have mentioned
Yahoo uses only meta titles.

I personally use Dreamweaver. Just makes my life so much easier, but it's on the pricey side. Download Adobe's 30 free trial and see how well it suites your needs.
If you're looking for something simple and free, give coffeecup a try. This looks like something simple to use.

You can always start by submitting your website to directories. Start with free web directories and don't forget to submit to the directories of technology giants like Bing, Yahoo and Google. If you are going to focus on Yahoo! rankings, just make sure that you add the proper on-page SEO techniques like meta tags and keywords. Research what keywords should be posted on your HTML file

Hii..Main problem in yahoo search engine For searchers, well-known, commercially-backed search engines generally mean more dependable results. These search engines are more likely to be well-maintained and upgraded when necessary, to keep pace with the growing web.
