I posted this in the wrong place last time! My website is quite new but I have had some sales. Made a disastrous mistake in changing the banner which I am having put right shortly. Looking for ideas for a strapline for the store - any ideas.
Any comments on usability or any other suggestions much appreciated

Nice color scheme.. However I prefer it looks in combination of white and other color. Maybe a widget on the right saying "today's offer", "this week's coupon" or bestseller list can help to influence you site's visitor to buy. Put a voting widget helps you to realize which designs or types of dresses that look more appealing to your site's visitors.
Love the dresses. They are all look pretty and stylish.

The dress size links under the header are a great idea. First impressions are good with your site. The perception is you understand your customers very well.

Hi,
I like your design, though for me i feel the top right where you have the safe buy and royal mail free logo looks a little cluttered. I also think with your colour scheme which i like would be better reflected if you considered a nice textured background, something that is simple yet also decorative just to break up the dark colours of the site and the dark background.
But i like it .

Generally good but I had to scroll to see prices, eg http://www.venusdesigns.co.uk/next-burgundy-rose-halter-dress-p-288.html
When a user lands on a page, the key data, ie price needs to near the top.
eg http://www.amazon.com/Household-Essentials-01943-80-Pocket-Organizer/dp/B0010XX7ZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1268244094&sr=8-1

Too much on that homepage is trying to grab my attention.
The Google Checkout and PayPal graphics aren't needed until the user reaches the checkout page. Why? Well PayPal allows you to take credit and debit cards, which the user will expect.
The share pop-out is completely unnecessary - people are more likely to want to share a product link that the url to your homepage. Chances are people won't think your site is so incredible that they just *have* to share the link within 5 seconds of getting there.
The scrolling bar is trying to grab my attention. Should I be looking at the main selection of dresses, or the scroll bar? Give me one good option, not two that may frustrate me and lead to me leaving.
Your navigation is over-the-top, too.
Having a famous brands link and links to each style uses up less screen space and would lead to a better user experience. That or list all the major brands and have a link to dress styles.
A basket icon on the right with the number of items in it (typical design) would replace the need for both the basket text and the checkout link as users will see(or should) the basket page every time an item is added and will checkout from that page.
The Safe Buy graphic should be smaller and be at the bottom of the page(do you really want users focusing their main attention on that, or your products?) and the Royal Mail logo isn't necessary(or could go in the same place and be smaller, also) The same goes for the SSL logo. Everyone expects it, so it can be small.
You shouldn't have let your designer put a link to their site on it unless they gave you a significant discount for the privilege. You own the content as you paid for it, they have no right to advertise all over your site(or even your homepage)
That's just the homepage's issues.
I'm sure you'd rather I was brutally honest than you have users who navigated to the next search result because they were being attacked by too much information.

Khalid.
I'm blunt when critiquing websites and ideas on this forum. The public won't sugar-coat their opinion about your offering, so there's no point in me doing so.

Not sure about the dark background to be honest, but it's a personal thing. Also when searching by size (first thing I clicked) the page doesn't load up.
Worth having an email signup and blog too.

britishcoder,
almost agree concerning scroll bar on the right. And personally I prefer more light colours.
I would also add "similar items" to the product pages.

I would try and simplify the menu so that its smaller and some of the logos that are not necesarry could go for instance you already state on your header that uk postage is free the royal mail logo with free could go .
