A new series of podcasts aimed at helping businesses communicate and trade in overseas markets has been produced by the Regional Language Network.
The podcasts, which were part sponsored by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), contain interviews, country profiles and information on language and cultural issues in key growth markets such as Brazil, Russia, India, China and Turkey.
There are also top tips from industry experts, and local and international businesspeople.
The 23 podcasts are aimed at businesspeople, particularly those engaged in international trade, and are available from http://www.rlnpodcast.com.
Regional Language Network’s website also includes other online resources, such as cultural briefings, how-to guides and case studies.
UKTI international trade director in the East Midlands Peter Hogarth, said: “Podcasts are a great way to get information to busy businesspeople, particularly those who travel a lot. When you're doing business in another country, it's so important to make a good first impression – those few basic phrases in the local language, knowing how to greet people, what topics to talk about, and what to avoid.”
Podcasts are a digitally downloadable file that can take the form of text, audio, video or all three. The file is downloaded to a portable music player, such as an iPod or another MP3 player, where they can be viewed or listened to.
