An EastMidlandsUniversity has announced it is the latest to join a new global entrepreneurial network.
The Institute of Creative Technologies, De Montfort University has been selected as network partner to the BizSpark programme, which was launched this month. The aim of the programme is to connect new technology businesses across 30 countries with network partners who can provide specialist support and expertise.
The IOCT is one of only 28 UK network partners at the time of launch.
Dr Tracy Harwood, senior research fellow at the IOCT said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for De Montfort University to support start-ups with some highly specialised knowledge and some more general business expertise through our Innovation Centre’s range of business support services.”
The BizSpark programme, which is a Microsoft initiative, aims to connect start-ups that are actively engaged with developing software-based products or services with business support networks, and also offers software and visibility.
Lars Lindstedt, software economist for Microsoft said: “It is often from start-ups that so many of the ideas that are changing the way we live and work in the UK emerge - but at the moment life is even harder for them than at any time in the last five years. That's why we've introduced BizSpark.”
