Hello people basically i would like some advice on how i would go about starting an ad agency. My initial idea was id go to small businesses and shops that arnt as popular as high street shops and offer them free advertising through various types of media for example : Posters,Flyers and possibly internet marketing. My objective is to help smaller businesses attract more customers and get their name out there abit more, ofcourse i would charge a fee after the company has gained more customers and would like to carry on with the advertising i would provide.
Any advice is much appreciate people thanks !

Very good idea, The pro for a small business looking at you're proposal is increased traffic to their business. You need to have a proper strategy to approach these small companies and show how you will advertise their company and the benefits to get them on board. The main problem here is what would you do to grab a potential customers attention to look at you're flyer, poster or click on you're internet website. Maybe get a small website with you're town/citys name incorporated into it i.e www.glasgowoffers.co.uk and advertise that. Potential customers sign up to this website to receive all the offers from the local shops of their town (not like groupon where i get offers for pizza express all the time the closest is 13miles away!!!)
It would be easier to market the one website rather than 5,10,20,40 odd companies.
James on this forum (deals with accounts and has amazing knowledge of anything business) came up with the idea of associating this sort of company with a charity. For instance a customer pays £5.99 a month to have access to these exclusive deals and £2.99 of this is guaranteed to go to **insert local charity**
sorry for the long read, but any more questions this place is pretty clued up
