Sole Trader - Personal Bank Account

Hi
I am starting up a franchise as a Sole Trader. Having an adverse credit history I have found it impossible to open a Business Bank Account - Obviously I would prefer to open a business bank account in my Business name. In the meantime, I have opened a new personal basic bank account with all the services I require - internet banking, visa electron card, NO overdraft (which is fine) - this will allow me to run my business separate from my personal bank account to make accounting easier. My clients will pay me by standing order (in my name) into this account. Couple of points for clarification:
Could the bank close this account if they found it was being used for business
Could they start charging fees (a better option than closing it!)
Does anyone know of a Basic Business Account (guaranteed) acceptance which offers internet banking, which doesn't cost a fee just to get the application form
Or any other ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Banks are really funny when it comes to such issues, depending on the bank they might tell you to stop using it for business, check your terms and conditions. If your clients pay you by direct debit you are okay, cheques might be a problem if they are made out in the company name as the bank will not let you deposit them into your account.

(1) Yes
(2) yes
(3) HSBC do an adverse account, although you need to be persistent as a lot of the staff don't know about it. There should NEVER be a fee for applying for a bank account, although lots of companies seem to charge you to simply send you an application form they have obtained from the bank FOC......make of that what you will.
Generally speaking you would do very well to tidy up your old credit problems (ie ensuring all CCJ's are paid off etc and that you have no personal debt) BEFORE you commence on a new venture of any size. Personal debt and a new business don't tend to work out too well - business tend to be very hungry beasts to feed in the early days and if you have already used up all your borrowing angles you are starting with one hand tied behind your back.
Also think long and hard about franchises, many really are a waste of time and the companies involved make more money selling you the franchise than they do if you make a profit out of it! How much would it cost you to simply set up the same business without the franchise? If you need training - often the best thing to do is to simply work in the industry as an employee and get paid for it, rather than having to pay out for your training.
Hope that helps
