I've had the idea of starting a funeral directory website aimed at the UK market for a little over a year now as the one's that are currently up are very outdated and are designed very badly. There are 4 directory's currently online with one being the superior one with a little over 3000 registered company's paying a membership fee of 50 pounds a year. That website is extremely unappealing and is hard to navigate around and doesn't offer any sort of support or advice which is what i would do.

Here is the problem....a little over 5 month's ago a very professional site was launched offering a 24 hour call service which offers support and advice a long with a directory which gave me the shivers...

The site I mentioned before with the 3000 users is number 1. in google and whenever you type in 'funeral director in derby' for an example it will always come up number 1 in google and by the looks of things the new professional site is struggling and will struggle to reach number 1. (my opinion)

So effectively there are 2 big directories for this industry however, I would have to compete with the newer one as they offer everything that is needed. I suppose I have to say, there isn't anything extra I could offer except try and reach No 1. in google like the older site does, because i would rather focus on the directory side of the business.

Do you think there would be room for another one?? I mean if i charged 50 pounds for a listing their business on the directory that means if i got 600 of them that would be 30,000 pounds net profit give or take.
