Can anyone give me some advice on how to set up an Aupair and nanny agency.
Does anyone have any figures on the expected turnover, for such a business and what he startup costs could be. I have just start to investigate the option of setting up my own business any advise would be greatly received.
Many thanks
Gillian

Where are you based? Which areas are you looking to cover? Will you have a 'shop front', a walk-in office or internet base?

The Home Office website at www.homeoffice.gov.uk
have good info on legislation regarding au pair agencies
You can check
www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/default.asp?PageId=50
www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/default.asp?PageId=110
Also, if you search www.google.co.uk you will find a wealth of info
I will recommend having a "search engine optimised" website and getting it translated to main languages.
We run an English School website on behalf of a client who does not accept au pair applicants, but the client gets many queries from au pair hopefuls (mainly eastern europeans)
So getting partners in English teaching may help as well

You will need a lot of legal advice on Immigration law if it is your intention to supply EU and Non-EU nationals to families as this area is very heavily regulated and liable to many changes.
You will also have to deal with Criminal checks and reference checks on the individuals. Turn over of staff is a challenge in all agencies and good recruitment and selection is core to getting a good reputation.
I thoroughly agree with the idea of getting English teaching on side as part of your new business as this is a really high growth area.

With the Home Office expanding the number of countries able to supply Au Pairs it is certainly a business worth investigating. Linking up with an English teacher or TEFL school is definitely worthwhile as, I seem to recall, people employing Au Pairs need to provide for the nanny to learn English. Further info from the Home Office and current Au Pair agencies is your best way forward.
I would be specific on your search terms when looking for "Au Pairs" on the Internet!!

I also am interested in starting up a nanny agency. I am based in Horsham but travel regularly to South Wales because my parents still live down there. At the moment I teach privately to children in their homes (Maths and English) and I have a degree in Early Childhood Development. Fancy starting this project together?

Hi there, I read your post about starting a Nanny placement Agency. I own and operate a Nanny Placement Agency in the USA, and I also sell start up packages for other seeking to start an Agency in their area. I can give you tons of advice on this industry , however I think that there are goverment regulations on Aupair Agencies, you need to have a Nanny Placement Agency for many many years before you can legally operate a Aupair Agency, at least here in the USA that is. I offer a start up package that includes Agency Docukments and Contracts that can work anywhere. Please contact me if interested in speaking to me further. admin@nannybrokers.com

I would need lots of information.
"Can anyone give me some advice on how to set up an Aupair agency. Does anyone have any figures on the expected turnover, for such a business and what he startup costs could be?"
Also I would need information about how will the company be structured, what are the key management POSITIONS, COMPENSATION and key policies?
What's the legal business form in aupair agencies usually and how would you describe the "products or services to be offered" when there is an agency like this in question?
