Promoting your business idea.. help!

Alas, I'm not the worlds greatest sales man, and need help and advice in promoting an business idea.
I have written an ecommerce system that can be themed to sell any type of product, and it is currently catching the eye of several music shops under a central banner called The Music Vault.
The website itself lets you search across all of their individual shops so customers can find what they want. It has an inventory of over 130,000 items so far, but needs promotion and customers!
I'd also be interested in thoughts about promoting the system itself. This can be themed to just about anything, and can also be used as a directory, not use a shopping system, as can be seen at:-

To promote your company you need to provide the prospect with tangible evidence of your existence - away from the web - think LastMinute, Flybe, EasyJet - all of whom rely heavily on the web. However, they all undertake promotional themes - Press Releases, media interviews and promotional "give aways" - so that they're thrust before the customer.
Try following the Attitude link below and see if there are any things that catch your eye. Maybe, by talking direct to us we can offer some advice and ideas.

Ro,
Summer is coming soon, so how about I find you some t-shirt printers who will print your company name on t-shirts ?
Afterwards, you can distribute the T-shirts for free to people who buy something from you.
A sort of "buy this and get this free".
Or, howabout hiring cars and sticking ads about your company and paying people £5/hour to drive the cars all around the big cities of the UK ?
