HowAssociates - most forums use the nofollow command which tells Google not to spider links in posts.
Unfortunately the software on this site is rather simple and there is no command to stop links being spidered which is why there are so many people (many Indian, I'm afraid) who post rubbish here in teh hope of getting their links spidered.
Fortunately the forum will be moving to vbulletin in the next couple of weeks which will hopefully cut down on the garbage once people realise that the links won't help them

You can also try and promote your site via social media such as facebook and twitter. Try and generate a buzz about your magazine. Facebook will be particularly good for this, but you need to research it a bit first, look at examples of similar services etc.

Advertise in places where your target readers hang out and try to get some PR work going, along with contacting other magazines about exchanging ads or getting editorials in their mags.
To be hones though, I would do some work on your website before spending time or money on promoting it
When I hit your home page I quite frankly did not have an idea what the site was about, I am greeted with a variety of topics and 2 huge eye-catching adverts on the right. Great for your advertisers, bad for your bounce rates as people are going to leave the site within seconds.
Write a basic intro and plant it at the top of everything so people know who you are and what your site is as soon as they land on your home page.

I think to save more time, you can even outsource that promotion task to those cheap and reliable virtual assistants around. They could do blog commenting, forum posting, social bookmarking and even social networking that'll easily boost marketing to your website. Also, in this sense you can have more networks the more you contribute good information to the public. That way, others might be checking on your products the more you look for "targeted communities/networks" to prevent looking like spam. You can add this as a routine task that should be done on a daily basis so you can earn better credits.
