Hi, sure lets have a quick look....you need to do some browser testing as your add to cart buttons in your featured products are not showing correctly on MAC FF 15.01
I'd also add some text on your home page (try for 300 words with some title) if you want to have any chance of ranking organically in the search engine results.
Hope that helps.

OK as a basic opencart shop.
First thing that put me off is the admirable attribution to teh copyright of the free banner image, pay for one, google fotilia and buy a £10er worth of credit, you can then buy quite a few stock images that you don't need to attribute
As you only really accept paypal online, it is nothing to be ashamed of, paypal is actually trusted by consumers nowadays, put some paypal logo on the home page.
The registration form is tedious (why do you need the region/state (called a county in the UK) when you have a post code. Install Paypal Express (google opencart paypal express to find extensions) paypal express allows effectively one click registration and checkout for paypal account holders. This converts well.
About us page is empty - this is needed!!
Privacy policy must now at least mention cookies and what you do with them (Google ICO Cookie law)
Product Returns - whilst the main elements of your returns policy is burried in your T&C, I would include some text on the returns page that outlines your returns policy (7 days in accordance with distance selling) who pays for return post etc.
Affiliates - unless you are serious about building and managing an affilate network, I would drop that for the time being, it looks a little desperate.
Otherwise, it is clean basic e-commerce site build on a popular platform.
If you install Paypal Express conversion wont be a big issue, but the major challenge you will have is how to get traffic to your site. No that Google Shopping/Merchant centre is linked to AdWords, in reality that means you will be learning the wonderful world of google advertsing.

Wow!
Many thanks for your advice and feedback. I will have a look at this more tomorrow.
Have taken a few things on board and made a few changes tonight. However i am learning all of this whilst doing it, i have no prior experience with this sort of thing.
Many thanks!
Michael.

If this is your first experiment with this, you will be massively disappionted with traffic/sales to your site.
an e-commerce site is not just 'build it and they will come'.
If you seriously want to sell online, and you are a novice, start with an e-bay shop or being an amazon merchant. Trust me, it is far less expensive than you think, the (appox) 11-15% they take is nothing compared to teh marketting effort you will need to make a stand-alone site work.
I have been there, done it, learnt teh lessons the hard way.

Marketing is my forte!
I apreciate the advice, however will carry on with this, it is currently a side project as I have a full time job that I dont see my self giving up on anytime soon.
I see this as low risk, I have done all the work my self and spent very little in terms of investment. The 'off site' sales far out weigh the amount spent so far.
What other lessons did you learn?
Any other advice you would care to share? could I take a look at your e-commerce sote?

In my point of view, the design of your site is simple. It does not make any first impression to me. so, I think you should pay attention to structure Design. It should be easy to navigate the products.
