Hi there, if this is your first attempt at web design, then it's a fairly good effort. Personally, I like to see a bit more colour in the design to accentuate the pages. The home page is pretty barren and would benefit from some more text and maybe another image or two. Remember, once a potential visitor reaches your site, he will decide in seconds if he is going to stay. What you don't want is a high "bounce" rate.
What are you doing as far as SEO is concerned? Keywords or key phrases are important of course, as is off site SEO such as back links. You should give this some thought.
Have a look at a site we have just created for a client in Bradford, http://www.electriciansbradford.com for some inspiration. When your ready to expand your site, get in contact with us, there is only so much you can do with a free website. Good luck with the site and your business.

Thanks for the feedback, i will add more info and pics to my home page. I have tried to add key phrases to both the website and also to the meta tags.
Regarding SEO - i have tried registering with some search engines and also free websites. I'm not sure how much further to go with it.
Thanks Craig

Hi Craig, forget free websites. Something you don't pay for will not yield the results you need. For SEO guidelines you need to seriously look at the following,
Article submission
Social Bookmarks
Directory listings
One way linking
Press releases
On page optimisation
Google Place page optimisation
Also, use the power of social media. Get a Facebook business page (not a personal account) because it will be indexed by Google, Open a twitter account with a company background. All these will help your site to get a higher ranking and both are free. The website I mentioned above took only two weeks to reach number 3 on page one of Google using the search term "Electricians in Bradford". It shows what can be done in a relatively short space of time.
SEO needs continual attention. The reason for this is that your competitors will keep improving their rankings and you will slip behind quite quickly if you don't keep optimising. I would also suggest you put a blog on your site and regularly post to it. Put company news on it, what jobs you have completed as well as things like recent changes or amendments to the 17th edition regulations. Google loves blogs because it is constant new information.
Sorry to rabbit on, hope the above helps Craig.

Like the website, in particular the clear call to action of your telephone number and the accreditations on the left hand side.

Really like the simple design of the website. I think you may need something else at the bottom of the home page as the two pictures there look a bit out of place with nothing beside them

Hi,
taken a look at you site, and I just have a couple of little pointers.
Look at changing the format of the text across the site, so that it's consistent from page to page, the front page, electrical services and electrical testing pages all have different font styles, changing them all to be the same would create consistency and unity across the site. And on that note, underlined writing is generally reserved for links to other sites or pages, you may want to think about replacing that with bold, or perhaps italicized text.
'Welcome to our site' on the front page is a no no in web design, I'd be tempted to replace that, or take it out altogether.
The picture on the front page at the bottom of those little yellow electrical 'thingies' is unecessary, and a little ugly. I'd suggest using another picture of your work. You could try maybe three images side by side (they'd need to be the same aspect, and approximately 275px wide each), where you currently have one. That might look nice.
Also, and I suspect that this isn't something you can do much about, your email address doesn't match your web address. It might make it a little difficult for people to remember your email address if the 'address' parts are different, and also, it can look a little untrustworthy.

Thanks for the feedback - regarding the text format, which page text format would you suggest for all the pages?
I have removed the 'welcome to our site'
removed the testers and i will organise a set of three pics shortly.
I will look into altering my email address, the mwelectrical.org is our original email address.
I started removing the underlining, but i think i should do this once i choose the correct font.
I really appreciate all the help and guidance everybody is giving
Thanks Craig

Personally, I like the smaller font that you have on the front page, it still reads well on my monitor (which is quite a high resolution), so it's not too small. Definately stick to the grey that you have on the front page, and maybe keep the red you currently have for the headings. I would, however be tempted to leave the contact page as it is, that looks better slightly larger.
Couple of other things that you may have already spotted, the title on your 'electrical services' page, reads 'electrical installations', but the menu reads 'electrical services' I'd change one or the other. Also on that page, the first paragraph ends abruptly, and there's a break in the second paragraph in the wrong place.
If you don't have email capability for your new web address, you may want to think about a gmail, or hotmail address?

Yeah I don't mind it. Being honest I don't think it looks too professional but then again, it might serve it's purpose just fine. But you could probably get a much nicer looking one for £400 ish.
You're in a good spot already for getting rankings as you have a domain name that matches they keyword you wish to target (which is the only reason the electricianbradford.com domain ranks number 3 for that keyword)
The thing I'd recommend is to install some form of analytics on your website, be it google or a third part one - so you can see how your site is performing and how people are finding you. Then you can indetify weaknesses in your service offering, and play to your strengths.

Not sure what analytics are yet, something to google later!!

Only one thing to change:
I saw that 2 pages have one font the rest another font ( or just bold ). Not so good.
Consider changing this.
