Hi Tim,
I paid a visit to Sense Creative - a nice looking website - but there are always ways to improve search engine listings and many different ways to gain on the number of promotional techniques out there.
First of all search engine listings. Google has listed your site and is caching reguarly - this is a good start. Next what are the main keywords you are trying to gain good search engine postitions for, i.e. your main keywords - is it printing, design, stickers, letterheads etc...? For starters your main keyword/s should be included at the start of your Title tag, your keyword tag could be increased, as you only have 10 in total - try to cover more of the products you sell. Research your keywords, find out areas and search terms that are generating searches but competition on those terms is small.
Search Engine Optimisation of your site needs to focus heavily on good backlinks to your website. Google is only showing 24 backlinks to Sense Creative. For the search term 'printing' in Google (searched on approx. 1,500 times a day) I noticed that Castleprint is shown on the first page, this particular website has 320 backlinks from other websites. Basic findings show that you need to increase the number or websites that link to you, the more popular they are and more related to your website, e.g. printing and design types of pages, the more relevant Google will see your website.
Search Engine Optimisation is a slow process which can take a few to many months to reach higher up the rankings and once this is obtained it has to be maintained. Ensure the changes and progress are monitored, this way you will be able to keep a check on what is working and what is not.
Affiliate networks can be costly, especially as they do not present any guarantees, but 30% commission is quite average and I am not sure which Affiliate Network you have tried but Affiliate Future offer the same service for a set up fee of £500 and a monthly fee of £75 - compared with Tradedoubler who charge £3,500 set up fee and still a 30% commission. Affiliate Future offer a more low cost solution to try out affiliate marketing.
May be an obvious question but have you tried either Overture or Adwords from Google and pay for click advertising - its an obvious choice considering the low set up costs and the fact you set your own budgets.
One option you could try is a promotional giveaway, freebie or competition etc... this is an ideal way to intice visitors and also to increase your own brand awareness. There are many sites that would list freebies and competitions for you (for free) which do generate interest. Try http://www.freebietown.co.uk , http://www.netfreestuff.co.uk , http://www.britishfreebies.co.uk and for competitions try http://www.loquax.co.uk. I once ran a competition through Loquax and gained over 1,000 competition entries in less than 2 days.
There are lots of options of which I have only touched the surface here and many ways to increase visitors. I am only guessing but based on your Alexa rating can I assume you have around 400-600 visitors a day - with some good SEO techniques and some of the ideas above, this could be doubled within a couple of months. After which point you can begin to harness and develop the techniques bringing in the largest percentage of visitors.
As I said I have only scratched the surface, but I have worked with other business to help them establish and grow their brand and visitors - so if you would any further help or ideas please contact me through my website.
Best of luck,
Regards,
Dean

Hi Graeme,
You've definately started off on the right foot with industry based websites and free directories - but other ways is to check on the sites that are linking to your competitors as to whether they will also offer you a link or recipricol link.
To find out who is linking to you, say from Google, go to Google and type in link:http ://www.yourwebsite.co.uk - Google will show you the websites that link to yours that it deems are related and what sites it uses to determine your backlinks. If you try the same search but use your compeititors (or top ranking sites) website, you will see the sites linking to them - this would be a good place to start to contact sites for backlinks.
You can try similar methods for Yahoo and Ask Jeeves etc... but beware that they do not use the same methods and Yahoo, for instance, generally shows and uses more back links than Google - so for example if you say had 50 back links to your site, Google may only use 15, whereas Yahoo could use 30 or 40.
No one knows for sure why Google doesn't use the full number of back links but it is speculated that Google's search alogorithm has started only using backlinks from related sources, has been seen to diminish the Page Rank return on number of backlinks if they consist of free directories (as this has bothered Google for some time) and time seems to be a factor as well whereby new backlinks are not giving as much emphasis by Google as existing and established back links.
Hope this helps - but if you need any further help please contact me through the contact form on my website.
Best of luck,
Dean
