Hello and thank you for reading my intro. I run a unique business helping people to start their own cash loans business in the UK.
The business is 'home collected credit'; whereby you loan small amounts of cash to householders and collect the payments weekly from the customers' homes.
This activity is highly regulated by the Office of Fair Trading and you have to hold a current consumer credit lincence to operate within the industry.
Obtaining a consumer credit licence involves an application to the OFT and it can be quite difficult to answer the questions on the forms if you have no experience in the industry. As part of our training package we also advise people on how to answer the questions on the application forms to give people a better chance of being successful with their application for a credit licence.
I am looking forward to participating in discussions posted in this forum, where I hope to give advice and hopefully receive suggestions from all of you helpful forum member. Thats my intro, I hope I havent broken any rules so far - Gina

Hiya Jamie,
Yes we have, we operate all along the North Wales coast and our cash loan business has been running for many years, We have huge experience in this market and we love this business.
People imagine that it is like being some kind of debt collector, but it isnt like that at all, most of our customers have been with us for many years and we have a really good friendly rapport with them. Its all about dropping round to see them once a week and the money seems almost incidental

Hi Gina,
Fair Enough. I think it sounds like it could work well, I guess its just a case of getting the right customers.
One thing I must say, I think if you are in the financial sector of business that your website needs a more professional look and feel to it.
If you are interested I have a friend that can help you out. He charges just £50 setup fee and £29.99 a month thereafter to include design, hosting, coding, seo etc. His name is Peter and you can contact him at contact@monthlyweb.co.uk.
I hope this is useful and good luck
Jamie

Yes I know the site is not great Jamie, but it is on the first page of google for all our keywords
We do have the skill to update the site and have been meaning to do it for some time now, but it is just finding the time really, we are too busy making money unfortunately

I'm surprised that you're okay with putting off a redesign for even a second.
A site doesn't have to be database-driven to be good.
Being on page one of the results page for the only search engine that matters is great, but that makes it even more important to look good.
Redesigning your site shouldn't affect your ranking one bit. So long as you keep the same keywords and actual wording on your site you'll be fine. It's the general look and feel that needs to be improved.
Frankly, I wouldn't have even launched a business with a site like that, as that's the first impression that any potential customer has of you.
Jamie, really? Whilst everyone is clearly free to charge what they like, £30-a-month for what amounts to hosting and the odd update(after the initial design) is taking fleecing to the extreme. I could understand if that fee included e-commerce and a good content management system, but charging a setup fee AND £30-a-month for five pages really is treating people like they're stupid.
Of course, if they pay it, they've proven the theory.

I'm blunt when critiquing websites and ideas on this forum. The public won't sugar-coat their opinion about your offering, so there's no point in me doing so.

Yep I can see your point Khalid, although I must say that we get more than enough business at the moment from what we see as a sideline to our main business so it doesn't seem to put too many people off. Its just a matter of priorities really, we are not web designers, we are loan providers in the main. I have not been impressed enough by any web designers I have seen so far to give them the business of the re-design of the site, but we will be having a redesign over the next month one way or another. We dont need a back end at all as far as I can see, just a straight forward css simple site will do I feel. But yes I do acknowledge your point, thanks for the observation - Gina

I understand and I wasn't in any way trying to squeeze money out of you.
Frankly, I wouldn't ever touch a database-free design as there's almost no money in it and you clearly don't need that level of complexity.
I was just trying to get the point across that a professional-looking site leads to a positive first impression.
I'm sure you're doing fine anyway, but a good business deserves a good site.

I know that you were not trying to tout for business Khalid and I do appreciate your input. You are right though; I do need to get a revamp of the site, thanks again for your observations - Gina

Hi Gina,
Your site is on the first page for 2 of your keywords...and the rest, I couldn't be bothered looking after 3 pages
Just thought you should know...in case you had paid someone to do the seo and they have informed you that you were on the front page for all the keywords within the organic listings (left hand side) when you're not! (unless my browser needs refreshing)
You May need to check again...

Sorry I should have said 'for keywords that are important to us' so what I said earlier was misleading. I do apologise for not being clearer. The most important phrase for us is 'start a loan business' which is what people will search for and we have the top two results for that phrase (both sites at the top of page one being mine) thank you for pointing this out tho, and no we didnt, and dont pay for any seo, ppc, or anything else.
