Morning,
I am looking into becoming a mortgage and insurance advisor. How do I go about setting this up? What qualifications would I need to do. And do you think it is wise to start this part time and keep my job until I build up a client base? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Andy

Hi,
I've just logged in to acquire simlar details, however I passed my CeMAP exam and looking for ways to get started.
Mortgage advisers now need to be qualified by attaining an Certification of Mortgage Advice and Practise (CeMAP). I self studied myslef and completed all 3 module within one year.
I registered via http://www.ifslearning.co.uk. I think it is wise to startup whilst keeping your existing job, however you may need to gain experience for which is hard to get whilst still having another job. If you have been through a number of mortage applications you should be fine.
The UK market is competitive, you may wish to think about advising in other European countries (if possible longer term) where markets are have barely just began and you may gain a greater market share - These are my plans. I'm a property investor and have researched these markets and looking to provide such services for UK investors purchasing in upcoming european countries.

So what about insurance, what qualifications are needed to advise on them.
And with the Cemap, you obtained 1 2 and 3, can you advise on just module 2?
