Hi there,
I'm researching how things go in the UK re: merchant accounts.
Does anyone on here have some expertise in this area so I can ask a few questions & also I'm looking for a company I can trust & refer to my customers.
Thanks
Michelle

Hi Michelle,
Streamline, HSBC, Barclays are all popular for merchant accounts. As a starting point it might be an idea to use the search facility on this site and browse through old posts as there are a lot of posts about this.
Cheers
Paul

ditto the above, most high street banks have a viable offering re. Merchant accounts (we use Barclays)
Also to consider, is the Payment Gateway Provider who need not be the same as the Merchant Account Provider (although some banks can provide their own Gateway service also).
With all Gateway suppliers there is some set up cost, some monthly/annual subscription fee AND a transaction charge (with volume discount). The best value gateway service for low volume transactions (under 1000 per month say) need not offer best value for higher transaction volumes (or transaction values). So you do need to profile your usage before deciding.
We use and recommend and resell the ProTX Gateway Service- particularly for under say 500 transactions per month.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with me if you require any help setting up your online store, payment and fulfillment systems.
