Hi Kirsty
Have you tried calling some of the larger card companies like Clinton Cards and asking them for data and advice?
I know it is a bit of a long shot but even if they forward you onto someone who can help you it might be worth it.
There is no harm in asking.
Kind Regards

Just the basics really - how much do people pay for cards, are they willing to pay more for handmade cards, are people interested in personalised cards.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Kirsty. I own a card shop in Tyne & Wear for the past 4 years. You basically have 2 different categories of cards: Direct and Wholesale. Direct cards cards are from a supplier such as Hallmark. A typical card, for example, will cost you around 84p which will retail at around £1.99. Warehouse cards start from around 10p but are usuall around 25p-35p each. The selling price is usually triple the cost-price.
Hand made cards are a big wast of time in my opinion. They are fairly expensive to produce compared to the excellent chinese imports such as 'Isable Gardens' and aren't very popular in my area.
Cards with a good verse will always sell well.
Hope this helps - if there is anything else please don't hesutate to contact me.

Hi Kirsty
I think handmade cards don't sell well in shops, they are better at village fetes and fayres etc.
What people will pay depends on the quality and how different it is.
I sell cards too, I think the market has dropped for independant sellers as people pick up cards with their shopping in the supermarkets now. Also the handmade card market is a bit flooded at present.
If you are making, I would make gerneric cards and not to many for any particular occassion.

I try and buy handmade cards every time... I much prefer something thats unique and the receiver wont have got from someone else. They do cost a little more but its worth it! Just my opinion of course!
