Judges of the 2012 Startups Awards have met today to select winners for each category from among the 35 finalists.
The judging panel, which includes TV Dragon Duncan Bannatyne and BBC Click’s presenter Kate Russell, will be choosing the companies that stand out for having the biggest growth and profit potential.
For categories such as Trades, Home-based, Freelance and Mumpreneur, judges will be looking for “great lifestyle businesses”.
The most inspiring and successful companies for each of the 14 categories will be announced at the Startups 2012 Awards ceremony on December 7 at the Kensington Roof Gardens, where one company will also be crowned the overall NatWest Startups Business of the Year.
Among the expert judges is Luke Johnson, chairman of national campaign StartUp Britain, which is due to launch National StartUp Day next week.
Taking place on November 14, the campaign is inviting all start-ups that have been helped through the StartUp Britain scheme over the past year to join together in celebrating entrepreneurialism and boosting new start-ups.
Launched during Global Entrepreneurship Week, National StartUp Day aims to encourage the British public to pledge to start, support or help fund a start-up business, displaying all pledges on the StartUp Britain website.
