RE: Is fashion clothing online an over saturated market to enter?

i think you've really answered your own question in your post. What are you going to do thats better / different / alternative to all of the competitors in the market?
This is how I start my line of thinking with any new venture. It's not going to be easy for you to enter the market with the same product offering, pricing, delivery, etc as a well established business. Note I said not easy, nothings impossible.
What's your unique service proposition? If you hve a great one, whats stopping you?

No, I don’t think online fashion business is saturated. Results depend upon the brands and the range you offer. Also customer dealing and promotional schemes are important. Track your clients to know their response and the reason for not buying from you.

Hi Colin,
Interesting post.. I wanted to touch base with you. I have also had some thoughts about opportunities in the fashion arena particularly tapping into the social networking model to make it different.
This is one of many projects I am looking at.. Right now I am looking to get together with other like minded entrpreneurs who want to start a business. I recently put a post on the forum regarding one of my projects that involves briding the gap between "ideas" people (like yourself) who lack tech skills and tech people who lack the ideas. I have had a very good response and would like to talk to you further about your business plans and link you with this network of other individuals who are on the same page. You can contact me on alexcahill100@gmail.com so we can discuss further.
Look forward to hearing from you
Alex

Fashion is always in the air. It's in the taste of every customers so you don't have to worry about more competitors. You can both look on the bright side of low cost fashion ideas and the luxurious ones and see which of them works better. Browse high rating brands too.

Hi everyone.
Thanks for your input on this. You have confirmed what I was thinking; (room for another outlet, but have to have a different enough USP), and you've given me confidence to follow this idea further.
Alex - thank you for the offer. But I run a web-development company, so the technical side is taken care of. The thing I need to work on now though is how to do market research to gauge the feasibility of the idea, and find out what the buying decision (sales moment) of our target audience is. Can anyonere recommend a good book that helps with that?

I would recommend doing a bit of secondary research first; do some digging around. There are alot of free sources of research out there that might well give you at least an insight into the market. Once you have found that out it's time to test the market yourself to see if your USP is going to reel in the punters. There are ways to do this yourself for free but it will come down to the question of money vs. time/experience. If you're willing to put the legwork in, you can produce some pretty good research by yourself, but using an agent ( and there are more affordable ones about) can save you time, and give you the input of someone who knows the field, and has access to a readily available panel.
Pop over to www.marketest.co.uk and check out their partial results for free when you register. You can also get a free quote there if you decide to go ahead with your own survey.
Good luck Colin!
