Hi everybody.
I'm looking for a crm system that can be used to keep track of new leads, quotes, renewal dates, existing customers etc. Ideally with simple entry/interface, be able to mail merge/email out and synchronise with a working calendar (if not include one!).
Not sure if I'm asking for too little/much.....any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

What you're looking for will be a bit more integrated and feature-inclusive than regular CRM systems.
It's a good idea to get all of what you need in one app, otherwise you would just have to manage additional applications and integrations, which is nothing but headaches.
Look into something like WORKetc, it puts CRM, project management, and billing into one deeply integrated, intuitive system. Calendars included, in depth gmail integration included as well - you can literally manage everything from within gmail. With WORKetc you manage the entire client lifecycle from one system. Manage the client as a lead, manage quotes, win the sale, collaborate with the client, finish the project, invoice the client, get paid, and track every aspect of your relationship through WORKetc: http://www.worketc.com/online_crm

Suggest you go check out a website comparesoftwareforbusiness.co.uk. It's a software comparison website. Hope that should pull up some good crm options for you.

There are a tonne of SAAS based CRM options out there. If you're using Google Apps, I'd search the marketplace as they have extensive lists of CRM providers. A good old Google search will also work.

depends on your needs, but I played with both SugarCRM and SalesForce before setting on CapsuleCRM. The big guys are powerful and can do a ton of stuff, but at the end of the day you want a tool you will use, not one that does everything but the kitchen sink. Capsule keeps it really simple. It took weeks to setup Sugar, it took me a hour to setup Capsule and customize it to my needs. It makes the process far less complicated and integrates with email and google apps. The interface is incredibly smooth and easy. It's dirt cheap. I wouldn't use any other system after working with it.
