Budding ecommerce entrepreneurs have been urged to enter a new nationwide competition to find the next big online business success.
Launched at the Silverstone Grand Prix on Friday, the competition, which is being run by hosting provider UKFast, will give 10 UK businesses a year’s worth of funding and server provisions worth £15,000 each.
According to the company, a 0.5 second delay in page load speed can reduce traffic by 20%, and up to 51% of web customers leave a website if the pages take too long to load. The competition will monitor how server speeds can influence the success and growth of the 10 web companies.
Lawrence Jones, managing director of UKFast said the scheme had been devised to give the 10 deserving businesses ‘the opportunity to flourish in difficult economic times’. “I eagerly look forward to the coming battle,” he added.
The competition is now open to entries and finalists will be announced in September ahead of the start of the challenge in November.

Closing date for entries is August 31.
