Hi all,
I am thinking of going to the Global Sources Electronics & Components fair at Hong Kong next month.
Has anybody any experiance of going to one of these fairs before?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

No experience of the fair but don't forget to look at oasis-air.com for your flight - if there's still some left you can get return flights for £261 including taxes.
Might save some much needed cash

I already run an unrelated customer service business.
I am interested in importing as a totally new venture and have been itching to go to oneof these fairs for the last few years to see whats on offer.
One of my concerns is the lingo, but I'm sure most will speak english or perhaps an enterpreteur will be on hand.

Well worth the trip. The important thing to do while you are there, once/if you have found a supplier at the fair, make sure you visit the factory. Too many of these companies at the fair are trading companies and just because they have a nice booth it does not mean a great deal. Language is generally not a problem at the fair as most can speak some English...some very well. Have noticed recently many Chinese companies use European or US customers to do the talking in return for a free stay in China! If you do HK might be worth getting the visa and crossing the border for the Canton fair. Usually a load of interpreters waiting to help...for a fee!
Go for it.

John,
The Canton Fair is very big (Guangzhou). Couple of hours bus ride from HK or alternatively you can fly 45mins. Week one is from 15th-20th October, week two 25th-30th. Different products for the different phases. Same applies...do your homework on the supplier before committing.
Good luck, any questions do ask.

Hi John,
I haven't been to that fair but know a lot of people who recommend the Canton Fair.
I lived in HK for a few years, so if you want recommendations on hotels etc. feel free to to PM me.
Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paul,
I'm still seriously contemplating going to the HK fair, not sure if I would be able to fit the Canton fair in.
I will definatly contact you Paul for some info if I go next month.
I have been checking some of the hotels......some quite expensive, and at the low end, 2-3 star look alittle seedy :-o
Mnay thanks, John

UPDATE
I have now decided to go to the HK fair with flight and hotel now booked.
I will let you know how things went.
Looks like I was logged on as Charlie Chester as well, due to being on two pc's and two different user names.....sorry about the confusion but I am one and the same.
