Home parties - credit/debit card payment options

I am in the process of setting up a new business doing jewellery parties in private homes. I had hoped to be able to organise a facility to accept credit/card payments but having made enquiries with banks, I understand that this is considered 'hard sell' and so I will not be able to take advantage of these services.
Is anyone aware of any alternative options for me to consider to accept payments as well as cheques and cash?
Thanks

You could always open a paypal/google checkout account and allow your customers to place an order this way - i would suggest you take extra precautions such as a signed order in case of a future chargeback.
Or the better way to create an online webshop linked to your paypal/google checkout account and following your parties they can place the order online (with your pc if u prefer).
Just an idea..
