Hi all,
I am having trouble getting quotes for home business insurance. All of the brokers and insurance companies mentioned in the forums among others are not very helpful, and to be honest, they seem to be unaware of such a thing as "home business insurance". Either that, or they think i'm from mars!!!
All i require is public liability, stock up to £1000, possibly product liability.
Business equipment is covered in my home policy so not required with the above.
My home insurance will not cover any other business insurance.
I would class myself as an internet retailer, as that's what i do. Sell things from home via the internet, holding minimum stock.
I am hoping someone alse may be in a similar situation and be able to point me in the right direction for the appropriate insurance.
Any input greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Ian,
I have been quoted by these, but they do not cover product liability. So if i ran with them, i would still need a seperate policy for that. I suppose if i am going to do this properly, i should have it?
I am coming to the conclusion that maybe i should take the business equipment cover which is included in most policies, even though i am covered in that respect by my household insurance. But i am sure you can appreciate i am trying to keep costs at a minimum.
I tried the Norwich Union "online quote" form, and they point blank refused to insure me. No matter what configuration of policy requirements i put in.

Thanks Jonny,
Yeah, rang the London office. They referred me to the Manchester office. They asked me lots of questions about the business and said they would phone back. Of course they did not phone back, which really upholds my confidence in them if i they did sort me out and i had to put in a claim!!!
I am really starting to wonder if i am the only person in the UK who needs an insurance policy to cover all aspects of working from home! I think not somehow.
Are there any ebayer's out there who have ran into similar problems? As my business insurance requirements must surely be similar to an ebayers insurance requirements.
There could be an opportunity here for someone to startup their own insurance company!!!
