First off hello to all.
Ok my names Roger and i live in Essex, but fairly near Cambridge a lovely part of the country.
Im 44 years old and its now about time i actually did something that i have wanted to for years and try to start my first ever business venture.
I have always wanted to do something which could lead to me working for myself and having my own destiny in my hands as such.Over the years i have looked into lots of different ways of doing this from buying a business to franchises etc etc, nothing has ever come of this though for various reasons but mainly finances.
Im now in a slightly different position where i have some cash i can use (not a huge amount but enough to start a small venture)
Now this is where the fun and games begin, what to do.
Well i want to start off doing something from home sort of part time as i cant afford to leave my job yet.I have been looking at websites, buying, selling and building but im not to hot on programming. This search has brought me to certain forums which have helped in the learning process but im still not sure.
More recently i have been looking into the buying and selling on ebay and the like.I have found a very helpful forum which i notice have just joined hear.Through that forum i have found a very useful course which im looking at now to learn the ropes.I have one main problem with this at the moment and that is i still have no idea what to sell.
So thats really about it for now.Sorry for the waffling,im hoping this forum will help me out a lot,i certainly need it.

Greetings from Canada, Roger.
I looked into your situation and my advice would be getting into a franchise. It's aproven model and, most of all, financial performance can be easily verified based on historical numbers. However, if you are extremely strong in business development, marketing and sales - frnachise would be not appropriate. Anyway, do not rush and do not jump on every opportunity that comes accross your way. Scrutinize each and every one of those, especialy the ones that sound great. From my many years in serving businesses as professional accountant, I realized that having a buiness is not a fun and comes often with many "regrets", but eventually, with due care and dedication the fruits are there. All the best. VMax.
