Think this is were you need to do some research here. There is definitely a market out there but what initially comes to mind is home meal delivery service as part of healthy living programs where they send a customer a daily delivery of healthy meals for a set period (a week, month etc). The other major healthy food chain that comes to mind is Subway (healthy dependant on what you consider heathly to be). Easier thing to start with in regards to takeaway healthy opens would be sandwiches, yoghurts and things of that nature but you could easily go to the supermarket to get that. Most peoples first default would be to order something unhealthy, possible getting a diet coke with it feel a bit better about themselves

Healthy takeaway would be a fantastic idea if it was healthy dinners, currently apart from a chicken shish kebab you have no coice. I am currently on a diet and having lost 25lb in 12 weeks the last thing I want is a pizza to ruin it. I love the idea of having a takeaway delivered once a week as a treat but i'm heartily sick of the chicken shish kebab now and would like some other choices. If you could find meals that are low fat and low calorie and on your menu show the nutritional details that would be excellent. My wife is diabetic so for here its important to know the calories, fat, carbs and sugar in a meal so takeaways are very limited for her.

I eat regularly there when I visited. Really good healthy but filling salads. Although I guess they have the fresh produce to put in there!

A very good idea indeed, as far as iam aware there is already a service like this in America where they deliver it to you and incorporate this into a diet plan.
Although to be a proper alternative to the fast food market, you would need to be priced roughly the same or maybe slightly cheaper. I will admit I spend a lot of money on takeaways a week due to my work load BUT would love a healthy option to be available. I used to do the whole fitness thing and personal trainer but preparing healthy meals took time which I don’t have.
Do you currently work in nutrition to think of this business venture?

Great idea it is, i guess you can earn a lot of money, but it will be difficult - takeways are always cheap cause they use cheap ingredience, you will have to invest to healthy and good quality ingredience, and to try to keep the standard so the price will be higher, so less people can visit. good promotion would be needed - to appeal on health.

I agree with what people have already said above,
My only thoughts are that it would need a lot of marketing!
After all you really will be different to everyone else!
The costing issue is a difficult one for me. On the one hand I don't think you should be cheap! after all, if your really honest, the people who can afford gym memberships and who worry about what they eat, are usually in a position to not worry too much about the cost. But you should obviously be competitive.
But then if you look at Mcdonalds i think they charge a similar price for a premium salad as they do for a burger meal (don't quote me on that, I'm going from memory!)
so people are used to paying more for the healthier options.
The only possible problem I see is that I think 90% of people get a takeaway when they are too lazy to cook, or to drunk to operate the cooker!
Would a nice healthy salad help soak up the beer, as,well as the current trusty kebab does? I'm not sure it would.
But I still think this a great idea!

Hi Birchinio
This is a good idea and in keeping with many of the concerns of people worldwide - getting enough nutrition and eating well despite increasingly stressful and busy times.
All your business needs, as many of the guys mentioned above, is some thorough market research and a solid business plan.
No doubt you may already have various ideas about how this could work, once organised you'll be better placed to assess its chance of success.
Get in touch for more assistance, we'd be happy to help get a venture like this off the ground!

I like this idea, when i worked in the city we used to have a company come round to the office each day with healthy food, which certainly changed a lot of peoples eating habbits.
The idea of a takeaway is an excellent concept, and some much rrom for growth, like has already been mentioned it could be tailored to suit diets, maybe you could market it through dieting clubs, they seem to be an excellent place to at least do some surveys.
Hope it works out.

I like the idea. Apart from the business point of view, this field is the weak point of every individual. Because each one of get hungry. Now when it comes to the part of the visit of the customer again and again to the restaurant, you need to take care of the quality and some value added services like free refills, free cold drinks, etc...
