Hey guys,
I'm pretty new to the area of SEO and wondered if anyone can help with a Google pagerank question I have. I noticed this morning that Google listed my site as page 1, rank 1 for a keyword listing I have been trying to promote.
When I looked on a colleague's computer that same keyword listing didn't appear until page 6. I have checked with other search engine rankings (Yahoo et al) and the listing appears to be consistent on different computers.
I would really appreciate any light that can be shed on this.
Many thanks,
Phil

Phil,
This would be my first guess at what's happening.
If you're logged into a Google account or your Google search settings are set to customise your results the pages you visit will be given more weight so you see your sites in position one for examples but then when your friend searches on their computer it gets ranked normally or maybe customised differently if they are logged into Google or have there search settings set to customise results.
Hope that helps.

I totally agree with the previous reply! To get the correct result you need to log out from your gmail account and log on to google.com site not to any .co.uk or .co.in or something like that.
But one thing tell me why you're writing Page rank? Page rank is a totally different concept from that you're asking here. You're asking about your keywords ranking in Google but page rank is different. Google gives every site a marks out of 10. The algo (a mathematical formula) of Google determines how much mark you can get like 5 or 6 etc.

Google are advanced and do use lots of information when deciding your results. They take into consideration your local area the number of searches your query's etc... so it is more then likely you have clicked personalize my results.
