O2 has expanded its location-based discounts app to enable all independent retailers to advertise offers for free.
Supported by the British Independent Retailers Association (BIRA), the re-launched app enables all small businesses to market their discounts to local O2 customers, regardless of their own telephone network.
The app, which is currently used by over 1,000 brands including Odeon, Zizzi and WHSmith, was previously only made available to small businesses on the O2 network.
The product re-launch coincides with O2’s new study, which uncovered that over 50% of small business owners find raising customer awareness a major challenge to business.
Ben Dowd, director of business at O2 hopes the simple-to-use app will enable small businesses and start-ups to market to a wider audience: “Priority Moments for Independent Businesses is all about helping businesses grow and engage with their consumer base and pointing them in the direction of technologies that can help do this whilst also saving them time and money.
“Currently, the use of innovative technology and the implementation of digital marketing is much easier for bigger businesses who have the funding and resources to channel into this so we are delighted to be able to share our expertise and access to our 23 million customer base in the UK, with the very small start-ups who need it the most.”
