Hi All,
I am just wondering I have received and seen many companies offering coupon vouchers and discounts with local businesses. However my question is unless you can actually see the starting price or the discount be taken off, how can you be sure that the business is really offering a discount? Instead of just increasing there starting price and then offering a discount on that! Thus tricking the customer.
I am looking to work with local businesses to generate exclusive discounts for new start ups. However how can I be sure that they are actually offering a discount that is worth while and they also adhere to it?
Any ideas or procedures that I could put in place to control this?
Sorry if it seems confusing, thank you very much for your time and help
Chris

As a frequent user of APH airport parking I often receive discount offers as an existing customer but when looking to book airport parking I always check the prices on their website as a new customer before trying again with my code to ensure that they are being honest.
Incidentally, their discount codes are genuine

We offer discounts in our web design business to starup companies, as we have been there ourselves and know how difficult it was to get started for an affordable price and so we want to demonstrate that we really are making an effort to help companies who are starting out.
As a company all of our prices are advertised on our website all of the time and then when we do run a special promotion or special offer which isn't readily available through our website, we try to do it at a price that instantly identifies it's self as a special offer and not a price a company would just run with all of the time.
The problem is a lot of companies do simply demonstrate a product as a special offer and as you say simply inflate costs, but realistically you should be able to identify a real special offer simply from what is on offer and a little research at looking at simlar services from other companies.
