We are a team of 5. Basically running a small business. I was wondering what cloud services would be best to handle sales and marketing.
I've looked at Salesforce CRM but it is too complicated (we have two older people on staff who does not have the patience to learn new systems... sadly, they bankroll us!) Any simpler alternatives for this?

Salesforce is a good tool and, in my opinion, any robust system which offers flexibility for a growing business will have a degree of complication about it. Having said that, Salesforce looks scarier than it is!
If you are considering cloud computing, we can help you with hosted email and server solutions. If Salesforce is too complicated you could start off with a glorifed spreadsheet or access database until you can detemine what you need from a CRM application.

Hi registerednow,
You may be interested in the list of online tools for small businesses we put together for a recent blog post here - http://bit.ly/icFaHA
You should find Gooroo much easier to use than Salesforce and far more flexible in terms of general business management. The key thing when looking to use online tools is to make sure that any data you have uploaded is completely secure and is returned to you should you need to end the contract. As a pay-as-you-go service both these aspects are fundamental to the Gooroo system.

For better or for worse, cloud-computing is the technology of the future. Just ask Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, who recently said that seventy percent of Microsoft employees are doing something at least related to cloud computing; in a year, that figure will be ninety percent. While some (such as PCMag's crankiest geek, John Dvorak) think Microsoft should abandon cloud computing, the rest of the industry is pushing forward. Although cloud computing is not without concerns about security, stability, and data ownership, at its best it allows businesses to unshackle day-to-day operations from the local datacenter. Cloud computing is helping to shape today's truly mobile workforce.

You can consider upgrading your phone system, if you are using one, into a iPBX or virtual PBX phone system.

For a small company ,Success factors helps a lot , which can be accessed by the internet ,
For small companies and entrepreneurs, cloud computing provides an opportunity to access enterprise applications on an outsourced, variable cost basis. which inturn reduce the capital costs and IT support requirements. which also lets small businesses purchase exactly the amount of computing and data resources required. The result is a more agile small business that can scale up and down based on demand.
