In this economy I think it would be hard to get something like that up and going through a bank. They may think that it would not succeed or they may not want to deal in that type of business. Sry. Hope you find someone soon!

have you as yet set up the company??

You will need to have the company set up first so that you have a certificate of incoropration to take along with you
Your company doesn't have a suggestive name does it?
As this would be a problem to a bank

If you have tried all the high street banks then if you are based near a big city i would suggest that you try the overseas banks (allied irish etc)
I assume that the majority of sales will be online anyway
so set up an account with paypal and have the monies then moved from the paypal account to your company account

We do have a Ltd co. registered under the name of 'TouchThere' slightly suggestive but could mean anything.
The banks don't even get to the stage of asking for the company name, just the area of business and then they turn us down.

Why not have a Limited Company with a sober name and once set up, use touchthere as a trading name. You can sell tame items on say, ebay as touchthere with paypal account but you need to get started and slowly move more through your bank, which is easy to do with a good credit rating. It is a very lucrative market even now and will recover and get better,

I am presuming you have actually gone into the bank and spoken to them, rather than trying to open the account online? Banks often turn people down without justification when applying online as their criteria must be far more strict.

As mentioned earlier the only reason I could think they would turn you down is possibly the name, although I would be surprised if that were the case, what did they tell you?

I'm assuming you are just wanting to open a standard business account rather than looking for them to aid you in financing the business?

Yes we have spoken to the bank. We have applied to change the name of our registered Ltd Co. now to our initials. How do we set up a trading name for the company from this i.e. TouchThere, a traing name of AJSB Ltd. ?
I am guessing once the account is open we have to tell them we also want to accept cheques made out to Touchthere aswell as AJSB Ltd. ? although most if not all payments will be made online.

Hi, yes you can trade off any name against a limited company, I have an account at the moment that is a ltd company but I can also put name cheques into. If online is main business ,you should be linked to someone like, paypal,worldpay,allpay?
And the advice of face to face, rather than online is so true,its good advice.
