Hi Matt If I were you I would start by making sure your business proposition is sound. If you're really not sure where to start then you need to get some basic independent advice - try your local Chamber of Commerce or Business Link - they can offer a lot of help to startups and will know your area. And do your own research. What do you want your web presence to achieve? How will you measure its success? How will it integrate with the rest of your marketing plan? Hi there Matt The marketing scorecard as mentioned below on my site, may come in handy for you as a means of helping you to figure out where to start in regards to marketing. Even before that though, I adamantly agree with what Robin has said about ensuring that you have a sound business proposition. Have you put together a Business Plan yet? If not, it's the very first thing that you must do. In fact, I would go so far as to say don't worry at all about marketing until your Business Plan is in place. I'm not great with statistics, but I do recall reading somewhere that a large proportion of small business failures results directly from the lack of a business plan. On a more positive note though, I think it's great that you obviously are thinking very seriously about taking the leap. Just prepare yourself as much as possible before you do. Good luck to you.
