Hi Adam
You need to use a specialist Broker who understands the market you're in.
I have a rental company that hires out av and computer equipment, we have a broker that understands media and also rental. They have a special policy with Zurich. I have used theses guys for 18 years.
You can get cross hire cover, fraudulent hire cover (so long as you take reasonable precautions), all risks etc. You also have the ability to cover your equipment when with your hirer.
Contact New Business at "Allan Chapman James" on 01206 500000 My contact there is John Earnshaw or Tim Rudland.
Let me know how you get on.
Best
Ian

Ian,
I nearly gave up on the idea!!!
thank you so much!
i will give them a call now...
so when your equipment is hired out, just in case they don't bring them back also if they are damaged or stolen whilst out on hire you are covered...
i will let you know.

Ian,
can i ask one more question... when you rent a item out to a person and they do not return it is it classed as stolen and do you report to police... or you treat it as a debt and need to get debt collector involved etc?

Hi Adam
I would report it to the police. The insurance company will insist in it. You'll get a crime reference number. This also protects the insurer to make sure a fraudulent claim by the insured is not being made.
The police may or may not get involved. The amount unpaid to you would be a bad debt and you waould have to claim in the normal way or have seperate credit insurance.
Hope that helps
How did you get on?
Please feel free to contact me at my company Medius Ltd You can google us!!

Just saw updated post.
Try contacting Hire intelligence they may be able to advise a suitable insurance company - but you may be a competitor. Their head office is in Acton .
