Becoming Self-Employed As A Kindle Author

Since self-publishing a couple of my True Ghost Stories Kindle books on Amazon, I am pleased to see that my sales have been steadily rising each month since June, when I first started publishing there. What I would like to know is this: do you think I could soon become self-employed as a Kindle writer? I would really love to do so, as I hate being on Jobseekers Allowance (only get £142.00 per fortnight).

However, before I take the step, I would need to know if I could claim Working Tax Credit as a self-employed author. I mean, what evidence would they need if I declared that I spent 30hrs pwk working on my books (e.g. writing, promoting them etc.).
Are there any people on here who have become self employed writing books? If so, I would love to hear your stories, tips etc.
