The problem is we are spending too much time online, and not enough time offline. We are preoccupied with our online selves that we forget to nurture the relationships that really matter, the real life relationships.
Having that frustration, my friends and I are creating an online social platform that encourages you to go offline called Growple. Growple lets you challenge yourself and your friends to anything you want, and we hope it will encourage users to be connected rather than just stay connected with friends. We hope people will use it to challenge themselves to be better people, i.e. quit smoking, or challenge their friends to go outside and interact, i.e. play a game of basketball. We are also including a cheering and commenting option on challenges to encourage the users to follow through.
We are currently launching a Facebook App next week as a beta and we hope to have a mobile app ready by mid summer.
We would love anyone's feedback on our concept and any recommendations or criticism of the idea is appreciated.

Hey appreciate the kind words. We think this is different from meet up because we're trying to nurture friendships, and be more social. Meet up is more for organizing events. Also we would like users to share their experiences !

Definitely agree Facebook is a powerhouse! However we're trying to enter the social discovery space, and I think Facebook wants to change and enter that field as well. We'll see how it plays out !

Really good idea. Just a few days ago, I heard that a college students invented a mobile app to help students decrease their time on mobile and encourage them to spend more time on studying. Very interesting.

Hey everyone thanks for your interest!
We were finally able to launch our beta app on Facebook. This is very primitive in what we want to do in the future but we would love if you could all try it out! Like us on Facebook to stay updated with the idea or if you want to contact us and tell us any ideas and concerns you have with our app. We would truly appreciate your feedback !

I like the idea, because I agree, we spend too much time in front of the computer. Have you thought how you will get people to return to the site if they are being encouraged to go offline? Perhaps email them with updates like great things people are doing and discovering by using your site? That would encourage viral spread, too, and the opportunity for exposure would get more people participating.
