Launched with a mission to “fix” online job search, Adzuna scours hundreds of sites to bring job adverts into one place, saving users from trawling through numerous portals one by one.
Founders Doug Monro and Andrew Hunter have thrown in a number of unique features: ‘Adzuna Connect’ integrates with Facebook and LinkedIn to highlight jobs at companies users' friends have connections with, while a real-time wage comparison feature shows the average salary for any job searched for.
Monro and Hunter brought a wealth of digital experience to Adzuna; their collective CVs comprise senior, pivotal roles at eBay, Zoopla, Qype and Gumtree (where they met) – credentials which no doubt helped them secure £300,000 seed investment from Passion Capital, as well as investors from eBay, Skype and Virgin.
Adzuna is already attracting 200,000 unique visitors a month (from zero advertising spend) and now features more than 400,000 vacancies. The free-to-use site will make money through Google-style pay-per-click advertising, while plans to expand into property and cars are also on the cards.
