I like the concept, sounds like a good idea. Bit like a dating website but for professional partnerships! Cool!

As for getting people to post on there, bit of a catch-22. People won't post until there are others posting. So, first of all ask friends and family. Just get them posting to get the ball rolling. Just get anyone who you know who needs some help with something or needs a partner for a project to post on there.

Maybe get some business cards designed and printed then hand them out. Think of who your target audience is, segment it and get talking to them (segment by segment) about the site. Maybe start an advertising campaign based on the 'dating' concept - this doesn't have to be expensive, there are plenty of things you can do to keep the costs down by being creative.

This may take some time to get popular but stick with it. Remember, people are interested in things that other people are interested in...

well you can list your website in forums, as you have already started doing that.
You can list your website in different search engines and add keywords to them so that they can be listed easily. Also keep updating your website frequently so that it is listed in the top searches every time

The problem you have is that nobody is going to join a forum that isn't active. whats the point of that?

However you go about doing it, you need to make it look like its the busiest forum on the internet and only an idiot wouldn't sign up. Fake profiles, paid posts, sit and talk to yourself ..... they all happen everyday on the internet for a reason.

SalmonMan is spot on. It seems unlikely that a forum can start and flourish naturally. I reckon he's right you will have to invent a whole host of posters (or pay people to do it) and then get them "talking/posting". No-one will post on a forum with only a few users.

Obviously, you need to make it such a way that people find it useful for sharing their thoughts with other members. There must be postings on different related issues everyday. Gradually you'll get real visitors and they'll start postings over there also.

Aside from having great content on your forums, you should be able to hook people with activity too.. nobody would want to contribute to a forum that has only one poster.

you might want to open your site to become do-follow. but you have to be strict with spam.
