Inspired by the digital media boom – increased venture capital investment, mergers and acquisitions, and online advertising spend – the conference promises to deliver unparalleled insight around the development of the industry in the UK.
It’s no coincidence that Rupert Murdoch moved fast and spent big to acquire MySpace in 2005. Since then, the sector has skyrocketed, with the social media phenomenon taking off in the UK through the rise of Bebo, Facebook and the aforementioned MySpace. Countless others have followed, fuelling a frenzy of buying and investment activity, with old media eager to ride the new media wave.
Hosted by former Dragons’ Den star and chairman of Library House, Doug Richard, who has himself created or invested in some of the most outstanding fledgling businesses in the field, Essential Mediatech will bring disruptive start-ups, incumbent media companies, advertising firms and investors together to discuss future trends.
Specifically, the event will address themes, such as:
- Internet and IP Television: how disruptive is it?
- Turning users into cash: comparing Mediatech revenue models
- New advertising channels: in-game, online video and mobile
- Marketing and public relations: using social networks, blogs, mobile phones, Second Life and more
- Convergence: adapting content for mobile, online, television and beyond
