I am trying to find a free example of a business plan - not what to put it one (I know this already), but an example of one that is written up. So far, I can only find egs. that have to be paid for.
I'm also looking for some software that I can use to prepare photos for my website - I need to be able to enhance them, resize, etc. Someone mentioned you can download free software for a limited period - does anyone know about this. What it the best software to purchase if I need to - I don't want to buy something that is really expensive and is over and above the basic stuff that I need. Thanks for your help.

There are lots of sample plans here http://www.bplans.com/ - some you have to pay for but many are free to download as PDF's. Your local Business link will be able to provide you with lots of example plans free of charge too.
Personally I think Photoshop is the best photo editing software around but it is pricey and probably overkill for resizing images etc. My mate swears by Paint Shop Pro.
Have a look through some shareware sites or on the front of some computer/graphics mags in the shops. There are tons of free ones around that will do the basics for you no problems. Ask any of your mates with digital cameras if they have spare software as many come with a free photo editiing software package too.

Graeme - just visited the site you mentioned. How do I know it is OK to download the software- they don't have any authentication numbers. I'm not really up on all this techie stuff (I'm on a steep learning curve!!) and am always cautious about downloading anything onto my computer.

This site states that you download at your own risk, as all the downloads are supplied by third parties.
However I have used it a few times and have had no problems, but maybe i was lucky!
It is a very good tool though to decide what software you want and what best suits your needs. I have bought software in the past and it has been useless, £100+ down the drain!
Its really your choice, as there are loads of similar sites out there who may provide authentification, just do a search in the engines.
Hope this helps,
Graeme
