Hi
I've put a redesign and reworking of my classifieds system on elance.com, and I've had some pretty good bids, so
Gradpads.com is up for a facelift and some tweaking. While I've got the professionals in, I thought I'd ask - does anyone have any comments on what they might want from a site like
Gradpads.com So far, from other posts I've made I've got a small list of things to do:
Cross-browser compatibility
Combined forum & classifieds log in
Bug free classifieds script
Are there any blindingly obvious or extremely cunning features I ought to be adding to the website? The only thing I'm not going to do is add lots of sparkly graphics, as I want the website to be as quick and uncluttered as possible.
Many thanks for any suggestions!

The website doesn't work on my maachine all the text is on top of each other. I use firefox btw. however what i can see i like. i love the colour scheme as its easy on the eye and easy to read. i'm not sure about the visotr counter...they can sometimes look a bit naff.
Make homepage and bookmark links dont work either.

I have not looked into it in any great detail but there seems to be a issue with the stylesheets looks okay in MS IE 6 however does not work in firebird and i guess mozilla/netscape aswell.
I woulds sort this out .. esp when the number of IE users has dropped dramatically over the last few months.

Thanks for your comments. Hopefully this redesign will sort out all the cross-browser issues.
The make homepage and bookmark links only work in IE unfortunately. I haven't found a script that works cross-browser.
Visitor counters do look a bit naff, so I might remove it. Have to see if it fits into the new design!

Instead of a visitor counter, does your host not offer any stats packages? All websites generate a log file when people use the site and these can be analysed by programs such as AWStats (which is free) to give a much more accurate picture.

Why not trying adding a 'This Weeks Hot Pad' area or something similar to the homepage showcasing one of two hot pad’s. You could charge an extra premium for this service !
