Hi
I am hoping that somebody may be able to give me the benefit of their experience.
My other half is extremely good at and passionate about cooking. A family Christmas dinner for 25 wouldnt and doesnt hold any terrors. Whenever there is a family or freinds event it always seems be us that hosts or organises the food element. Your probably thinking what on earth is he going on about. About a year ago she was asked to lay on a cold buffet (about 50 people) for a freind of a freind at a function room at a local sport centre. Everybody concerned was impressed, the sports centre invited her back the following week to lay on another similar sized buffet - from there she has done on average two varying sized events a month over the last 12 months with the sportcentre reactively promoting her service. So without really realising it she has the making of a small business albeit in the embronic stages.
The next stage is to build a web site and then market, this is where I am lost. Is it a case of finding similar locations that can be hired for functions -then mailshot them/phone them. I dont want to waste possible prospects by aproaching them amateurishly.
It would be a real shame if she could not exploit her talent and make a go of this.
Has anyone hear been in a similar position - if so it would intersting to know how they moved forward.
Applogies if the above seems like the ramblings of a nutter.

It sounds like you are doing well, the best form of advertising is word of mouth! Its also good to have a regular source of income like you have at the sports centre, especially when starting out.
A website is definately a good place to point prospective clients towards, especially if it provides examples of what your partner can do. Any sales literature, publicity can point people to it and they can learn more about your services and skills at their leisure.
Having said this it is vital that the website is attractive as this will directly reflect on your product. Also if you are having a website built it should be built professionally so it performs on the internet - don't be tempted by the cheap, nice looking sites as you get what you pay for.
If you would like us to quote for a website for you please get in contact. We are internet marketing specialists and build websites to be found in the search engines.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Graeme
