Hi guys,
I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what you think of my site:
double-glazing-forum.com
I was trying to make something usable but not OTT - as a project, and have started to add
news in the hope that it could be a mix between a news and discussion forum.
What do you think? Many thanks for your feedback,
JH

Hello James,
the design is not bad, but the google adsense in the middle kind of ruins the thing !
The logo is not vertically centered in the green section and the menu is a bit too small.
I would probably decrease the height of the suppliers section and expand the width of the latest topics. There is quite a lot of space wasted in the left column and adding suppliers all the way to the bottom would make the website too busy.
Now if you sell those links, that's another story !
There is no website link in the supplier detail page (and the address for zenith is duplicated). If you do not want to lose your users make sure to have a link that opens in a new window, and if you do not want to give away some ranking, then you should apply a no-follow.
Maybe a picture gallery of things with description for novices in DIY would help them a lot, as well as an FAQ.
Good luck !

Thanks for the feedback, all very valid points. We are going to move into DIY tips and advice as well as double glazing industry news as you suggest; it can be tricksy building up content and doing the design too.

I think the site has quite alot going on on the page which makes it a bit hard to know where to go for the information I need - perhaps clearer columns might help along with titles and intros for each section.
Like the site visually though and it looks quite professional
Good luck!

Hi buddinghealth,
I know what you mean. I am going to reorganise the site somewhat, and put the information on each supplier on a page with the relevant reviews and news for that company as I think this will help streamline the content on the site.
I think this might help with the issue of overload - I personally like sites with lots of information on the front page but I think you have to be quite pro. to design it an easy to navigate way!
Thanks for your help! Any other suggestions let me know!
