Budding entrepreneurs and business owners across the country are set to benefit from three new courses being developed by the British Library.

The new e-learning courses, the first of which will be available in December, are being developed by the Library to complement the workshops already offered by the Business & IP Centre in London. The workshops will cover a variety of topics on information and research techniques.

The London Development Agency awarded the British Library's Business & IP Centre £1m in May 2005 to help transform it from a successful pilot project into a permanent national resource.

“This project is part of our overall strategy to extend the reach of the Library's services to those unable to visit in person,” said Nigel Spencer, research and business development manager at the British Library

“It will also enable us to learn about the online provision of training and will inform future developments.”
