Just seen post about risking it all on TV so I thought I would post one of my fav programs at the moment, Dragons Den. Its s on Thursday nights on BBC 2 I am sure most serious people on this board would already know about it but if you don’t I recommend watching it.......Could you hold your nerve pitching your ideas to them knowing if they find one flaw in your idea they will rip you to peaces?......Bring it on!!!....ô¿ô
If I am to be honest I would love to have had the chance to pitch my company to them but as I am now up and running for over year I guess that would be out the question. I don’t need there money I need there expertise

Not fair, I'm in Canada and the BBC won't let me download it from their web site. I really miss that programme.

Hi,
yes top program, but they can be a bit unfair at times.
hey you could still go on the programme to ask them for more money and a percentage of your company to help you expand.
But why do people go onto a programme like that unprepared for financial questions?????

You have to remember it’s an "entertainment" show not real business.
They tend to parade the idiots and the bad bits, although having seen my fair share of crap business proposals it may well be representative!
If they just came on, did a good pitch and went off then it would be really dull for 95% of the audience.
A few pitchers have posted on here before and did seem rather underwhelmed by the experience. Still I’m all for business being shown as 'sexy' on TV - its makes a change from pop-idol and makeover shows.
Brett - in terms of being running too long - I disagree totally. A proper VC is far more interested in a real trading business than some business plan (any monkey can come up with a plan - making it work is the hard bit). I.e. the time to bring in the money and the expertise is if you (say) have one successful trading location and want to make it into a chain which is a whole different story. If you bring them in on day one then you tend to end up giving away too big a % for too little money.

Brett,
The Den is a great show and I have to agree that the focus is definitely entertainment. I think the Dragons' focus is a little unrealistic because they never want to consider anything that isn't going to see massive returns within the first 12 months, but it's fun to watch.
Brett you should go for it!

Thanks for the encouragement but if I am to be honest at this time I don’t need the Dragons as my business is doing ok. I don’t need the Dragons money but I would like the contacts and help they could give but after seeing the show tonight they only give you a certain amount of help anyway....I think I will just keep plugging away and that way I get to keep 100% of my company and 100% of the profits
....now that sort of math’s I like
