evaluateIT.co.uk is a virtual IT department for the small business entrepreneur, providing one to one advice in an online forum. You can post any technology related question and it is guaranteed to be researched and replied to by an IT consultant.
You might be wondering how best to promote your new web site, what computer you should buy or just want to get rid of an annoying error message. Whatever your question, you will get an in depth reply.
There's currently an offer of a free 3 month trial of the forum, whilst the number of members is built up. It wont cost anything as there's no commitment to upgrade at the end of the trial and no payment details are necessary.
There's also lots of technology resources on the site that are useful for the small business. Hope you might come and have a look!

Hi Webvideo4u,
Thanks for asking!
First of all, it is completely different from any free forum as every question is guaranteed to be researched and then answered (not just commented upon with ideas of the top of one’s head).
Secondly, it is different from the paid technical support forums around (some of which I have tried out myself) because it is a much more personal service: answers are explained in a lot of detail, in plain English, not assuming that people have any previous technical knowledge, but at the same time giving extra detail for anyone from a technical background to also benefit. Topics discussed are not simply about web promotion or fixing windows errors (although that is included) but also general technology issues, such as leasing computers for example. I make sure that each question is followed up (offline if necessary) to make see that the members get to a satisfactory result.
I haven't yet seen a forum that can offer this level of support that is suitable for a small business at this price. If you can let me know of any similar that you come across I would be very grateful (great to make sure I keep on top of any competition).
Maybe you might try out the free trial to see for your self?
Thanks again for writing!
Ruth

Hey Webvideo4u,
Just had a look at your own website. Thought you might be interested in a partnership scheme I'm launching beginning September (I'm working on it at the moment).
I'm going to be launching a 'technology passport' for small businesses, that will entitle the evalauteIT members to purchase products from a select range of technology suppliers at a discounted price. I'm working on putting together a 'portfolio' of a variety of suppliers, from online backups, to virus protection, to office software, etc. I'm obviously being quite choosy about who I partner with - I only want to promote those products and services that I feel confident are the most competitive and best quality on the market. I'll then promote these suppliers on the site and through my newsletter, with product/service reviews and recommendations, in addition to alerting the suppliers of any topics that arise in the forum that maybe relevant to their business, in case they want to get involved in the discussion.
I also intend to take the technology passport suite of products 'on the road' to networking events where I will be speaking on technology issues for small businesses.
Are you interested? (or any other technology suppliers out there that service the sme market)
If you are let me know and we can talk some more offline.
Thanks!
Ruth
