Hi Folks,
I have seen that eBay is successful in the United Kingdom. However with high prices and non-customer service! I'm wondering isn't it around time they had competition. Ok there is maybe Amazon and QXL but they are not particularly enticing. What do people think and I would be interested to know like-minded people.
Thanks for listing.

nice idea, but you need to get critical mass, not sure how you will do that. e.g. while your site only has a hundred advertisers no one is going to visit so no-one is going to advertise...

You also have www.ebid.co.uk offering free auctions, albeit with hidden costs. So you can't just say 'cheaper than ebay/qxl' you have to have another catch. Also, if you just buy an auction system, and then deploy it, it will get noticed. Plus it wont have any new features or different methods that may entice people who find ebay/qxl/ebid clumsy to use. The cost of paying someone to build an auction system from scratch, however, would probably deter anybody who is just thinking about the idea, and not seriously serious.
