Scan the Auto-Trader and Exchange & Mart for bargains. When you land yourself one, and there are hundreads, put it up for what it is worth. Make a bit on that one and get another for a bit more and keep going till you have enough to buy a few etc. Be disciplined and dont spend the money though! Keep it in a seperate account and use it only for buying new vehicles. Eventually get yourelf some land to store your cars when you get quite a few, then all you need is an office, or you could run it from home?
Cheers,
Ben

Disagree with clynshaw, Sorry.
everyone is trying to do that....
Go down another route.....
Phone santander (the owners of Abbey) ask them if they have 10 fiat punto company cars for sale, for £10k, buy them sell them fr £1200 and work your way up.....
The biggest business failure for 2003/04 was garages selling cars!! Why, because they all follow the normal route, use a different angle...

True, lots of people do it. I Know a guy who does. He's 20 and he has about 30 vehicles at a time for sale, not bangers, good quality cars, and has a new BMW X5.
But definatly a good route to go down also is Martin's, if just if you got the 10k to start with! If not, just remember everyones got to start somewhere! Just be wise with your purchases and your money.

Hi All,
I've been trying to find information on this myself. I've been searching on google and business link and other sites but can not find any info on the legalities of buying and selling cars. i.e the registering of the cars that I buy and sell, how much warranty do you have to offer etc.
I'm not asking people to do the hard work for me, but if somebody can put me in the direction of any info I would be grateful.
I'm lucky to have a big auction house near to me and a friend who is a very good mechanic. So, with the right research and hard work and starting very slowly, I hope to make a nice second income at first.
Once again, any info would be gratefully received.

Hi,
First off, let me say that I have no experience of what I am about to suggest, but it sounds reasonable to me!
I read once that a good source is to buy trade-in vehicles from dealers. For example, someone goes to a dealer to buy a Ford Focus, and the dealer offers them £1000 trade-in for their old Vauxhall Astra. The dealer doesn't really want the Astra (and in truth probably hasn't really lost £1000 off his Focus profit, just used it as a mechanism for getting the sale). So, depending on the sort of cars the dealer stocks, the Astra might go straight off to the auction house. It's possible that you might be able to buy such cars direct from the dealer, especially if you can strike up a relationship whereby you're able to take a lot of these cars off his hands.
Just a thought, hope it helps.
Cheers, Gary.

I have been buying and selling cars for 20 years, the first 19 as Sales Manager in VW,Mercedes,Volvo and Kia franchises. The past year I have been doing it for myself and even with my experience it's not easy. There is no normal solution, only what suits an individual.I am very fortunate to have made many contacts within franchised dealerships and I can get a steady source there. But I doubt if any Joe Bloggs unknown in the dealership could walk in and buy these cars at trade money.I certainly would not have dealt with people from outwith the trade I did not know.E-bay can be a source of cars, but the best advice anyone can give about buying from there,is go and see and test the car.I also use local free papers to source cars but unless you have an idea of markets you can pay too much and get stuck.Auctions are a reasonable source, but again being in the know can save you a fortune in reconditioning bills. There is no one sure way and even after 20 years I still make mistakes, all dealers do just most wont admit it.You have to try various methods and see what works best.Never buy at your first auction,go a few times and watch for the same rubbish that doesnt sell and steer clear.Hope this helps a ittle.

The reason I would like to this type of business, is because it has potential for a high profit margin. Providing you know where to get a reliable source the profits are there. I know a few people in my area who make good money doing this all working from home.

Hi
I reckon the best place to buy cars to sell is on ebay, then sell them on ebay.
A prime example, I saw a 97 Nissan Primera Estate, go for 52 pounds recently on ebay, with MOT. The reason for this price? It wouldn't start!!
More than likely its a minor problem, but to someone non mechanically minded it's a huge problem. To cut a long story short I saw the same vehicle a couple of weeks later go for 600 pounds back on ebay.
Learn mechanics!!!, find these cars, it may only cost 50 pounds to fix. Then sell them on for a huge profit..
If you need any advice I dont know much about cars but I do buy and sell on ebay.
Regards
Jonathan

I'm no expert but my friend buys and sells cars and he has a deal with garages that he gets part exchange cars, but it is hit and miss. He has to take 3 cars to the auction today because they wont sell, but with that in mind he does make 100's pounds profit on each car normally.

Hi,
I have found and excellent Guide for those wanting to sell cars at home.
I have sold a few cars and will hopefully try this on a bigger scale.

Thanks
I hope this helps for those interested.
The manual is written clearly and is an honest as could be. It doesn't claim to be a get rich quick scheme.
