iSold It, the leading drop-off internet auction chain in the United States, has announced it’s to open its first franchise in the UK.
The first store will open in the West Midlands in June 2006, and will allow customers to drop-off items for iSold It to sell on eBay and other internet sites.
As part of the service, iSold It will photograph each item before posting it for sale online. It handles any buyers’ questions, packs and sends the item and forwards the cheque to its customer.
According to iSold It, there are 15m UK households with around £1000 worth of items to sell, including laptops, cameras and designer handbags.
UK managing director Phillip Molloy, said: “The drop-off store concept is the most exciting business opportunity to hit the UK for a long time. It's a wonderfully simple proposition and, as the extraordinary success in the United States has proved, brilliantly executed.”
iSold It has grown to 170 stores in under two years in the US, grossing annual sales of $20m. A further 800 stores are under contract worldwide.
