A pool of temporary staff

Hi all

I'm currently considering developing a pool of casual staff who I can call upon during busy periods.  Essentially, the staff will simply be required to book appointments and update a database.

I'm not at the stage yet where I can consider taking on full time staff and need a flexible human resourcing solution.

Have any of you tried this approach, if so what issues should I consider?
